Supported storage backends
Test Services stores its reports and results in the storage backend configured for OpenLab CDS. The backend in use depends on the deployment type and on how OpenLab CDS is configured. This page lists the supported backends, the names shown for each in the interface and reports, and the constraints that apply to each. It is for administrators choosing or verifying a deployment.
Supported backends
Test Services supports three storage backends. A Workstation uses the local file system, while Workstation Plus and client/server systems use OpenLab Server (also available as OpenLab ECM XT) or OpenLab ECM.
Table: Supported storage backends
| Storage | Provided by | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Secure Storage | OpenLab Server or OpenLab ECM XT (Workstation Plus and client/server) | Secure file storage for OpenLab CDS data. OpenLab ECM XT additionally stores third-party data and office files. |
| OpenLab ECM | OpenLab ECM 3.x (client/server) | Enterprise content-management storage, including ECM 3.5 and 3.6. Requires a standalone OpenLab Shared Services server. |
| Local File System | Workstation | The local secured folder on a single-machine Workstation. |
Names shown in the interface
Test Services labels the storage consistently across the home page, progress steps, and reports. The name shown reflects the storage backend in use.
Table: Storage names shown in the interface
| Storage product | Name shown |
|---|---|
| OpenLab Server or OpenLab ECM XT | Secure Storage |
| OpenLab ECM 3.x | OpenLab ECM |
| Workstation (local file system) | Local File System |
Authentication constraints
The available authentication methods depend on the storage backend. Internal and Windows Domain authentication apply to most backends; OpenLab ECM uses its own authentication provider, and only Local File System adds the option of running without authentication.
- Secure Storage. Internal and Windows Domain authentication are available. When the Domain authentication provider is used, the OpenLab Storage System Test must be configured before it becomes available.
- OpenLab ECM. Authentication is handled by the OpenLab ECM authentication provider.
- Local File System. Internal, Windows Domain, or no authentication is available. When no authentication is configured, no login page is shown and login is automatic.
Test availability by backend
Not every test runs on every backend. The OpenLab Storage System Test, in particular, depends on the storage system being verified.
- The OpenLab Storage System Test runs on File System Workstations as well as on Workstation Plus and client/server systems. It is disabled only on an unsupported or unrecognized storage backend, where the message "Storage type is not supported" is shown.
- The OpenLab Security Test is disabled when File System storage is configured with no authentication. The message "The system does not use any authentication" is shown.
- The System Report and the OpenLab Software Installation Verification Test run on all backends.
