Glossary
This page defines the terms and acronyms used throughout the Test Services documentation. Terms are listed alphabetically. Where a concept has its own page, the definition links to it.

| AIC | Analytical Instrument Controller. A machine that runs OpenLab CDS and controls one or more instruments in a client/server environment. The OpenLab CDS Workflow Test targets an AIC. |
| CDS | Chromatography Data System. Refers to OpenLab CDS, the Agilent platform that Test Services is installed with. |
| Data Player | A virtual instrument mode that replays recorded acquisition data instead of driving physical hardware. The OpenLab CDS Workflow Test uses Data Player so that it does not require an instrument. |
| ECM | Enterprise Content Management. The OpenLab ECM document-management system, used as a storage backend in some deployments, including ECM 3.5 and ECM 3.6. |
| ECM XT | The OpenLab Server storage product; OpenLab Server is also referred to as OpenLab ECM XT. A distinct product from OpenLab ECM 3.x. Its storage backend is shown as Secure Storage. |
| File System | The local storage backend used by single-machine Workstation deployments, where reports and results are saved to a secured local folder. Shown as Local File System in the interface. |
| Flexera | The third-party license-management software that OpenLab CDS and Test Services use to manage feature licenses. |
| OLSS | OpenLab Shared Services. The authentication, logging, and shared-services layer beneath OpenLab CDS and Test Services. See About authentication. |
| OpenLab CDS | Agilent's Chromatography Data System. The platform that Test Services runs within. |
| OpenLab CDS Control Panel | The administration interface for OpenLab CDS, used to manage users, licenses, email settings, and other configuration. Often shortened to Control Panel. |
| OpenLab ECM | The storage name shown for client/server deployments that use an ECM 3.x backend. |
| QlaCDSWorkflow | The license feature name required to run the OpenLab CDS Workflow Test. See Licensing. |
| QlaSecurity | The license feature name required to run the OpenLab Security Test and the OpenLab Storage System Test. See Licensing. |
| Secure Storage | The storage backend used by OpenLab Server and OpenLab ECM XT, in Workstation Plus and client/server deployments. Shown as Secure Storage in the interface and reports. See Supported storage backends. |
| Summary report | The report generated at the end of a run that aggregates the results of all the tests that ran. See About the Summary report. |
| SVT | Software Verification Tool. A tool installed with OpenLab CDS that the OpenLab Software Installation Verification Test runs to verify the integrity of installed Agilent software binaries. The test is disabled when the tool is not present. |
| Test Services | The current name of the Agilent self-verification application within OpenLab CDS. Earlier release names were Automated Software Verification (ASV), Compliance Assist, and QualA. |
| Test Services Administrator | An OpenLab Shared Services project role created at first login. Grants all Test Services User privileges plus the privilege to manage Test Services, including creating and managing test schedules. See Roles and privileges. |
| Test Services User | An OpenLab Shared Services project role created at first login. Grants the minimum privileges to log in to Test Services and run the System Report and the OpenLab Software Installation Verification Test. See Roles and privileges. |
| Workstation | A standalone OpenLab CDS Workstation deployment on a single machine, with no client/server topology. |
| Workstation Plus | An OpenLab CDS Workstation Plus deployment. Includes all Test Services licenses. |
