Error messages
This page lists the error messages Test Services can display, together with the likely cause and the steps to resolve each one. The messages are grouped into general Test Services messages and messages specific to the OpenLab CDS Workflow Test. It is for administrators and users diagnosing a failed login, test run, or report download.
Some general messages, and all OpenLab CDS Workflow Test messages, end with the advice "please contact system administrator for assistance" when the message alone does not describe an actionable step.
General error messages
These messages relate to authentication, licensing, the storage backend, and the Test Services service itself. They can appear during login, during a run, or when a report is opened.
Table: General Test Services error messages
| Message | Cause | Resolution |
|---|---|---|
| Account is expired | The user account is no longer valid. | Verify that the user account is valid in the Control Panel. |
| Test Services could not acquire a license | No valid license is available, or the available licenses are exhausted. | Verify that a valid, non-expired license is installed and that enough licenses are available. Check the Flexera license dashboard (http://localhost:8090 on a server, or http://localhost:8095 on a Workstation or Workstation Plus); it should list the QlaSecurity feature with a quantity matching the number of licenses obtained. Then restart the License Server, Licensing Support, Shared Services, and Test Services services. See Manage licenses. |
| Test Services Service is down or unavailable | The Test Services Windows service stopped or is unreachable. | Verify that the port is open and that the service is running. Restart the Agilent Test Services service. |
| Bad username or password | The credentials are incorrect. | Verify the user name and password in the Control Panel. |
| Logon credentials are either invalid or expired | The credentials are incorrect or have expired. | Correct the credentials in the Control Panel. |
| Authentication provider is not available | The Shared Services authentication mechanism raised an exception. | Verify that the Control Panel reports no errors, and resolve any issues there. |
| Connection to server has failed | The authentication mechanism could not be reached. | Verify that the Control Panel reports no errors, and resolve any issues there. |
| Failed to validate credentials | Shared Services could not validate the credentials. | Verify that the Control Panel reports no errors, and resolve any issues there. |
| OLSS service is not available | OpenLab Shared Services is unreachable. | Verify that the Control Panel reports no errors, and resolve any issues there. |
| Test Services cannot continue verification | An authentication exception interrupted the run. | Verify that the Control Panel reports no errors, and resolve any issues there. |
| User has empty password | The user account has no password set. | Resolve the account issue in the Control Panel. |
| User is disabled | The user account is disabled. | Enable the account in the Control Panel. |
| User is temporarily blocked | The account is locked, often after repeated failed login attempts. | Unblock the account in the Control Panel. |
| User must change password | The account requires a password change before login. | Change the password in the Control Panel. |
| User is not mapped but is authenticated | The authenticated user is not mapped to a role. | Map the user to a role in the Control Panel. |
| Insufficient privileges to run Test Services | The user lacks the required role. | Assign the Test Services User role to the user. See Roles and privileges. |
| Test Services cannot create Test Services Project | The storage backend is unavailable, or has a disk-space or licensing problem. | Resolve the storage issue, or remove the Test Services project in the Control Panel; it is recreated on the next run, and previous results are preserved. |
| Report is not available in the storage | The report file was not found in the storage folder. | Verify folder permissions, or rerun the test. The file may have been removed or archived directly in the storage backend. |
| Email server settings are not configured in Control Panel | Test Services has no email settings to use. | Configure the email preferences in the Control Panel. See Email notifications. |

Table: Workflow Test error messages

| Error configuring Test Services instrument | The instrument is in use. | Verify that the instrument is not in use. If the problem continues, delete the instrument; it is recreated on the next run. |
