Install Test Services
This page shows you how to install Test Services and confirm that it is running. Test Services is installed automatically when you install OpenLab CDS, so in most cases you select it as a component during the OpenLab CDS installation rather than running a separate installer. This page is for the administrator who installs or upgrades OpenLab CDS.
Prerequisites
- You must have administrator rights on the machine, including the right to install software and manage Windows services.
- You need the OpenLab CDS installation media for your deployment (Server, Client, Analytical Instrument Controller (AIC), Workstation, or Workstation Plus).
- The OpenLab Shared Services (OLSS) service must be installed and running on the machine. Test Services depends on it.
Test Services is installed and upgraded by the OpenLab CDS installer. The standalone Test Services installer is no longer supported.
Install Test Services with OpenLab CDS
Test Services is offered as a component of the OpenLab CDS installation. Select it during installation so that the verification tests are available after setup completes.
-
Start the OpenLab CDS installer with administrator rights.
-
When the installer lists the optional components, make sure that Test Services is selected.
-
Complete the OpenLab CDS installation.
The OpenLab CDS installer installs the Test Services framework and the Test Services CDS plug-in for you. For the plug-in details, see Install a Test Services plug-in.
-
Restart the machine if the installer prompts you to do so.
By default, Test Services installs under C:\Program Files (x86)\Agilent Technologies\Test Services. You can change the installation path during the OpenLab CDS installation.
Confirm the installed services
The installation creates one or two Windows services, depending on the deployment type. Confirming that they run is the quickest way to verify the install.
-
Open Windows Run, enter
services.msc, and then click OK. -
Find the Agilent Test Services service and make sure that its status is Running.
-
On a Server, Workstation, or Workstation Plus, also find the Agilent Test Services Central Management service and make sure that it is Running.
On a Server, the Agilent Test Services service depends on the Agilent Test Services Central Management service, so both must run.
Test Services runs under the Local System account and does not interact with the desktop.
The Agilent Test Services service depends on the Agilent OpenLab Shared Services service. If you change the system configuration, restart both the OLSS service and the Agilent Test Services service so that they pick up the new configuration. For configuration changes, see Reconfigure after OpenLab CDS or authentication changes.
Verify the installation
After the services are running, confirm that you can reach Test Services and that its tests load.
-
Open a supported browser. See System requirements.
-
Go to the address for your deployment and log in. See Log in to Test Services.
The home page lists the available tests. If the test list is empty, the plug-in did not load; see Install a Test Services plug-in.
-
Run the OpenLab Software Installation Verification Test (SVT), which needs no license, to confirm that the installation files are intact. See Run verification tests.
